- At the Samsa Marine Park the blue sea of Yeongdeok and the sunrise are in perfect harmony. Many people from across the country visit the Sunrise Festival. Every year on the 31st of December various events such as ‘Daljip burning’ (burning straw under the moon), a year-end concert, and a fireworks display are held. In addition, such events as ‘Gyeongbuk daejang tajong (striking the Grand Gyeongbuk Bell)’ to usher in a new year, and the Sunrise Festival to make a new year’s wish on the rising sun are held here.

- For 5 days from the 2nd weekend of April when the Yeongdeok snow crab, the representative local specialty of Yeongdeok, is at its best, the festival is held around Ganggu port. Events such as the boat lighting ceremony, and the free fishing boat rides, the snow crab cooking contest, the raw fish slicing contest, and the ‘salgeori’ madang (surprise auctions) are featured in this nationally popular festival.

- Under the slogan of “Experience a vacation of a lifetime at the clean and clear Yeongdeok beach,” the beach festival is held at respective beaches for a week from the last Saturday of every July. Such events as sand sculpting, shell picking, sunrise sand walking, the General Shindolseok ‘ssireum’ (traditional Korean wrestling) championship, the peach eating contest, and other cultural events provide summer visitors to Yeongdeok with romance and memories.

- On the Yeonghae market day on March 18th, 1919, more than 3,000 residents of the 4 northern myeons rose in revolt against Japan. To commemorate this uprising, a big march from the Yeonghae rotary to the memorial tower and a joint commemoration ceremony are held on the 1919 Independence Movement Day on March 1st each year. On the evening of February 26th, the General Shindolseok Militia Launching ceremony, and the Torch Lighting and Marching ceremony in the street are held.
